Clinical Supervision

with Bethany Oberg, LCMHC, LPC, QS

Are you ready to grow your skills, build your confidence, and find your voice in the counseling profession?

Let’s work together to help you become the kind of clinician you aspire to be! I am currently accepting new LCMHCA’s seeking clinical supervision toward licensure.

I guide clinicians in building sustainable, values-aligned practices and strengthening their clinical identity.

Supervision is available in-person at The Calming Center of Mount Airy PLLC or virtually for clinicians located across North Carolina. Scheduling is flexible for virtual sessions to support accessibility and consistency.

I value strong supervisory relationships with shared investment and enthusiasm. Phone/virtual consultations are available at no charge.

Supervision Professional Disclosure

Counseling Background

The foundation of my counseling approach is the systemic orientation I learned and adopted in graduate school. Building on strong client-therapist relationship, the essential cornerstone of the foundation for meaningful growth and change, I utilize interactional systemic approaches which focus on understanding individuals within the context of their relationships/social networks and improving human relationships. These approaches include Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Experiential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Strategic Brief Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy. I am a strategic therapist, rooted in goal-oriented, directive Strategic Therapy, Structural Strategic Family Therapy, and Experiential Therapy.

I also have experience in trauma-informed and modalities, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Client-Centered Therapy, and (a modified version of) Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I consider myself a forever-student and love to learn about any and every possible way to positively contribute to the profession, provide the highest standard of care to my clients, and support the next generation(s) of counselors.

About The Calming Center of Mount Airy PLLC

I established The Calming Center in February 2021. We are a growing group private practice with a multidisciplinary team, offering coordinated care for medication management and counseling services. We are a practicum/internship site for graduate students in CACREP accredited counseling programs, including Wake Forest University, where I provide site supervision for our interns. I conduct individual and group clinical supervision for our associate counselors, and I offer post-licensure consultation for continued professional growth on a case-by-case basis.

 Supervision Approach

As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor (LCMHC, QS), I provide individual supervision for provisionally licensed counselors (LCMHCA) working toward full licensure in North Carolina. Supervision is provided in accordance with NCBLCMHC requirements. Supervisees must complete a minimum of 100 hours of supervision, including at least 75 hours of individual supervision. Supervision will occur at a ratio consistent with Board standards (typically 1 hour of supervision per 40 hours of clinical practice).

My approach is experiential, trauma-informed, and collaborative. Supervision is supervisee-centered and designed to meet you at your current level of experience and clinical focus to best support your clinical strengths and areas for growth, while maintaining a strong focus on client well-being. I guide clinicians in building sustainable, values-aligned practices and strengthening their clinical identity. Supervision includes a combination of roles—teacher, consultant, and evaluator. Supervision is not therapy; personal issues are addressed only as they impact clinical work. Supervision may include case consultation, treatment planning, documentation review, skill-building, and reflection on clinical work. Supervision is available in-person at The Calming Center of Mount Airy PLLC or virtually for clinicians located across North Carolina. Scheduling is flexible for virtual sessions to support accessibility and consistency.

I have experience supporting student interns, associate counselors, and licensed counselors across private practice and outpatient settings. I value strong supervisory relationships with shared investment and enthusiasm. My work as a clinician and supervisor is grounded in ethical practice, authentic relationships, and integrity. I offer free phone/in-person/virtual consultations, and I also encourage review of my Professional Disclosure Statement prior to beginning supervision.

Evaluation

Goals are co-developed based on experience, licensure requirements, and professional development needs. Ongoing verbal feedback is provided, with written feedback and formal evaluation as needed.

Confidentiality

Maintained in accordance with ethical and legal standards. Exceptions include risk of harm, abuse/neglect, court order, or Board requirements.

Professional Responsibility

Supervisees are responsible for practicing within scope, adhering to ACA Code of Ethics and NC laws. All clinical work must be supervised until full licensure is obtained.

 Fee

My standard rate is $150 per 50-minute individual supervision session. A discounted rate of $75/week is available for supervisees who commit to consistent weekly supervision (paid monthly). Group supervision is not offered at this time but may be considered based on interest and need. Cancellations with less than a 24-hour notice will result in a $100 late cancellation fee.

Emergency Contact

Supervisees can contact me on my office number, (336) 755-8601 and will be provided with my personal cell number. Supervisees must follow the emergency procedures of their practice setting. Supervisor consultation is available as appropriate but does not replace agency protocols.

Ethics and Complaints

I abide by the ACA Code of Ethics and NCBLCMHC guidelines. During our work together, if you have any concerns or dissatisfaction regarding the supervision you are receiving, I encourage you to share them with me so we can work toward a resolution. If you feel your concerns have not been adequately addressed, you have the right to file a formal complaint with the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (NCBLCMHC): NCBLCMHC – P.O. Box 77819 / Greensboro, NC 27417 / Phone: 844-622-35 / 336-217-6007 / Fax: 336-217-9450 / Email: Complaints@ncblcmhc.org

Agreement: By signing, both parties agree to participate in supervision in accordance with the guidelines set forth in this contract.
