Our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) offers collaborative, evidence-informed psychiatric care—including comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and support. Please note: psychiatric appointments are currently out-of-network, and superbills are available to help with potential reimbursement. Therapy appointments may be in-network for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, or Cigna.

The Calming Center is excited to welcome Meagan not only to our treatment team but also to Mt. Airy, North Carolina!

Since becoming a PMHNP, Meagan has seen how important authentic relationships and community are in the healing process. Her collaborative spirit and commitment to improving the lives of her patients make her a tremendous asset to our team.

With almost 10 years of psychiatric nursing experience as a PMHNP, Meagan brings a strong clinical background of psychiatric services to the private practice setting, including comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and individualized treatment planning.

Meagan has experience treating a wide range of mental health diagnoses such as mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety, PTSD, and substance use disorders. Her approach is patient-centered and trauma-informed. She is passionate about building therapeutic relationships, promoting stability, and improving long-term outcomes for individuals across the lifespan.

We now offer psychiatric evaluation and medication management through our on-site and telehealth Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Whether you're experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, or other challenges, our team is here to help you explore all treatment options with care and collaboration.

Psychiatric Services Rates

Our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) offers the following services:

  • Initial Psychiatric Evaluation (60 minutes): $100

  • Follow-up Medication Management (30 minutes): $75

  • Medication Management (15 minutes): $50

All fees are due at the time of service. We accept payment via credit card, debit card, cash, or check. Your card can be securely stored on file for convenience.

Insurance Coverage & Reimbursement

At this time, psychiatric services are out-of-network for all insurance plans.

However, we can provide a superbill—a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your specific out-of-network mental health benefits.

In-Network Therapy vs. Out-of-Network Psychiatry

Our therapy services are be in-network with select insurance providers such as:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)

  • Aetna

  • Cigna

  • United Healthcare

Psychiatric services (provided by our PMHNP), however, are currently not billed through insurance. This means clients receiving both therapy and psychiatry may use insurance for counseling sessions and self-pay for medication appointments.

Getting Started with Psychiatric Services

If you’re wondering whether medication might help, or you’ve been referred by your therapist or doctor, we invite you to complete the Psychiatric Care Request Form below. This helps us determine if our services are a good fit and ensure we match you with the right care.

Step 1: submit a psychiatric care request form

Fill out our short online form below. It takes just a few minutes.

Step 2: We’ll Review your Information

A member of our team will review your form and follow up with you within 2-3 business days to provide next steps. If appropriate, you’ll be scheduled for an initial/intake evaluation with our PMHNP. If we feel a different service is better suited, we’ll provide referrals and guidance.

Step 3: complete intake forms via your client portal

Once your initial/intake appointment is scheduled, we will send you our secure intake paperwork via email for completion through our private client portal. All paperwork must be completed through the portal prior to your appointment.

Step 4: Your First Visit

Our office is conveniently located near downtown. Upon arrival, you’ll find a comfortable waiting area. Your provider and/or therapist is eager to meet you and begin your journey together.

Step 5: Your first session

Every session is tailored to you. Your provider/therapist will explore what has brought you to treatment and focus on building a strong foundation of trust, support, and accountability. Using evidence-based techniques, we customize each session to align with your needs, goals, and personal growth.
